Mandrill Email Tracking
****Please note you must have the following programs before you can utilize Mandrill; Web version 3.2.1.7 or later, Usetup version 6.1.1.30 or later, andPDFEmail version 6.1.3.3****
If you would like to do email tracking, you will need to set it up in uSetup. You will need to contact Mandrill to get an account setup and get your keys. You can setup a single account and keys to use for all customers or you can setup a separate account for each customer or submission type.
Once you have you account and keys from Mandrill, go to Global Settings->Email Tracking and fill in your values.
Global Settings
Email Tracking
- Enter your Mandrill Key.
- Enter your Crypto Key.
- If you are using a dedicated IP address, enter it here.
- Set your custom quota.
- Enter the amount you want to charge customers and the unit of measure. This will be used for billing reports.
- Check the box Enable Tracking. If this is not checked, email tracking will be turned off system wide.

Email Setup
There is a new tab under the email setup for a customer. You can enter in your Mandrill account information for a customer here.
If you want to just use the global settings, leave the Use Global check box checked. By default, a customer will use the global settings.
You do not have to setup the outgoing email, if you are using Mandrill. You must, however, setup a from email address.
Submission Type Maintenance
Emails
You can setup Mandrill Tracking accounts for a submission type.
Click on Mandrill Settings
Uncheck Use Customer if you want to use a different key for the submission type. Enter in your API and Web Hook Keys. Enter in the From Email Address. This is required for opt outs.
Enabling Tracking for events
To track emails in the system, you will need to enable tracking for each event. Emails are not tracked by default.
- Click on the Track these emails check box to enable tracking.
You can also setup the registration and password emails to be tracked.
Under Web Setup for the customer, select Advanced, Page HTML/CSS and Emails.
Check the Enable Tracking box on each email type you want to track.
Adding attachments to HTML Emails
You can now add attachments to HTML Emails. When setting up an HTML Email event or template, you can add attachments by click on the Attachments button.
This will bring up a form where you can enter or select the attachments. The file must be accessible to the computer or user running the PDFEmail program or the email service.
Attachments
Enter the path and file name of the attachment or select by clicking on the ellipse.
Only certain file extensions are allowed for attachments. It should be noted that very large files may not reach the recipient due to limitations of their email server.
Allowed file types, currently, are .csv, .xls, .xlsx, .bmp. .gif, .ico, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff, .txt, .doc and .docx.
Setting up the Web Template for HTML Email Link Behinds
There are 2 places to setup the HTML to show when a link for a keyword is clicked in an email.
First, the default HTML is setup under Global Settings->Text Message Settings->Keyword Meanings.
Only Cancel, Confirm and Reschedule can be set.
Click on the Response Page for HTML Email button.
Enter the HTML you want to use for the page. This will be shown when a user clicks on the link in an email.
You can view what the HTML will look like by clicking on the View HTML button.
You can also setup a different HTML page for the keywords from each event.
Under Submission Type->Messaging->Email->Setup Email Messaging->Link Behinds
Click on Response Page for HTML Email.
You can enter in HTML for the keyword for a specific event.
uControl Email Details
The email details have changed in uControl. You can now see the tracking, opens and opt outs.
Select a submission and double-click on it. This will bring you to the submission details form.
Select the Emails or HTML Emails tab.
Emails tab
You can see which emails are tracked, opened, clicked or bounced. If a recipient clicked on the opt out link on the email, this will show as well.
